Materials
The Materials section is designed to simplify and streamline your UVs/Udim workflow—especially for projects that involve exporting to Substance Painter. This section provides a set of powerful functions that allow you to assign, separate, and remove materials with ease, thus ensuring that your 3D assets are optimally prepared for further processing.

• Add One Material :
This feature is great for preparing UDIM-based assets for Substance Painter. By applying a single material to your object, Substance Painter will recognize all UDIM tiles as part of one texture set. This allows you to paint across all tiles seamlessly and export everything as a single, unified texture set.

• Add Multi Material :
This feature is very useful for complex models that need different surface treatments.
Substance Painter & UDIM Workflow: By assigning different materials to parts of a model, you can easily designate which areas go into separate UDIM tiles. This makes it simpler to work in Substance Painter while keeping your UV layouts intact.
Group Assignment for Unwrapping & UV Distribution: You can assign specific materials to various objects or groups. This lets you join objects, unwrap them, and distribute UVs over different UDIMs without losing the ability to separate them later using the "separate by materials" function.

• Separate by Materials :
After joining multiple colored objects together, then creating a cable, pipe, or tube with InstantFlow and converting it to mesh, Separate by Material allows you to split the object back into parts based on their materials. This is especially useful before using UDIM Maestro functions like Unwrap, UVs to UDIM, or Pack to UDIM on each separated piece.

• Remove All Material :
This option quickly clears all material assignments from your assets, allowing you to start fresh. It’s very useful during iterative design or when you want to set up a new UDIM workflow without any leftover material settings.

Why It Matters
Substance Painter Ready: With multi-material assignments and effortless separation, your assets are optimized for export to Substance Painter, reducing the need for manual tweaks.
Simplified UV Management: Clear and organized material assignments enable you to manage UVs across UDIMs efficiently, allowing for independent editing or export of each group.
Time Savings and Reduced Errors: Automating these material management tasks minimizes mistakes and accelerates your production process.
The Materials section in UDIM Maestro makes it simple to manage material assignments—whether you're using a single material for UDIM compatibility in Substance Painter or working with multiple materials before processing in InstantFlow. It helps keep your assets organized and ready for unwrapping, packing, and texturing.
